Why people send us their gearbox

We rebuild, we don’t just replace.

A main dealer fits a new unit because that’s what the system tells them to do. We find the part that failed and we replace that part.

Nationwide collection

We’ll collect your unit, or your car, anywhere in mainland UK and return it when it’s done.

Everything is tested before it leaves

Bench tested, pressure tested, and road tested where the car is with us.

12 months’ warranty as standard

On every rebuilt unit, parts and labour.

Find your gearbox

Type the code, or the car

Most gearboxes are fitted across a dozen badges. Search either and it goes straight to the page for that unit.

I know the gearboxType a code, DQ250, 8HP70, JF011E, Type E, and go straight to the page.
I know the carType the make and model. The box searches what each gearbox is fitted to as well as what it is called.
Not sure?Photograph the casting numbers and the ID plate and send them over. Between the markings and the car, we can nearly always identify it.

Gearbox rebuilds in Leek, Staffordshire

A Leek workshop, and a pallet away from everywhere else

The workshop is on Prince Street Business Park in Leek, off the A53 between Stoke-on-Trent and Buxton. If you are local you can bring the car or the unit in and talk to the person who is going to do the work, which is not something most transmission specialists offer any more.

If you are not local it makes no difference to the job. Most of what we rebuild arrives on a pallet from somewhere else entirely. We collect and return anywhere in mainland UK, and a mechatronic unit posted from Devon goes on the same bench and through the same test as one carried in from the next street.

Regular work across Leek, Staffordshire Moorlands, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire, and nationwide by collection.

Transmissions we rebuild

The units, not the badges. Most of these are fitted across a dozen manufacturers each, which is why the gearbox number matters more than the car.

Frequently asked questions

Do you rebuild classic and modern gearboxes in the same workshop?

Yes, and it’s deliberate. Most specialists are one or the other. We rebuild 1950s manual boxes and remanufacture mechatronic units under the same roof.

Do I need to bring the car?

Usually not. Most of what we do arrives on a pallet. Remove the unit, drain it, crate it and we’ll collect it anywhere in mainland UK.

How quickly will you come back to me?

The same working day. Send us the gearbox number, the vehicle and what it’s doing, and we’ll give you an initial view and, where we can, an indicative price.

What warranty do you give?

12 months on every rebuilt unit, parts and labour.

Can you tell me what gearbox I’ve got?

Nearly always. Photograph the casting numbers, any stamped pads and the identification plate and send them over with the registration.

How it works

Sending us a unit

You don’t need to bring the car. Most of what we do arrives on a pallet.

  • Drain it. Couriers won’t take a unit full of oil, and it’ll leak.
  • Crate or pallet it. A gearbox needs to be strapped to a pallet or in a stout crate. A cardboard box won’t survive.
  • Label it. Put your name, telephone number and the vehicle inside the packaging as well as on it. Labels come off in transit.
  • Tell us it’s coming. Send the enquiry form first so we know what to expect and can book it in.

We can arrange collection anywhere in mainland UK. Ask when you enquire.

  2. 02We come back the same working day with an initial view and, where we can, an indicative price.

No work happens without your say-so, and there are no surprises on the invoice.
