01

Who we are

Classic to Current Transmissions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, number 17373803. Registered office and workshop: Unit 2a Prince Street Business Park, Prince Street, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 6DB.

We are the data controller for anything you send us through this site, which means we are the ones responsible for it.

02

What we collect

Only what the quote form asks for, and only because we need it to answer you:

  • Your name, and a telephone number or an email address, so we can reply.
  • The vehicle, the gearbox number, the symptoms and any fault codes, because without those we are guessing rather than quoting.
  • Photographs, if you send them. These often carry a registration plate or a casting number, and we treat them the same as everything else here.
  • How you would like the job handled, so we know whether to expect a pallet or a car.

We do not ask for anything else, and there is nothing on this site that collects information about you quietly in the background.

03

Why we hold it, and on what basis

To answer your enquiry, quote for the work, and carry it out if you go ahead. In data protection terms that is either taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or performing that contract once you have.

Where an enquiry does not turn into a job, we keep the correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in having a record of what was asked and what we said. You can ask us to delete it.

04

Who else sees it

Three companies handle it on our behalf, and none of them are allowed to use it for anything of their own:

  • Brevo, who deliver the email your enquiry arrives in.
  • Cloudflare, who host this site and pass the form on to us.
  • Google, but only for analytics and advertising measurement, and only if you agreed to that when you were asked. Say no and nothing goes to them.
  • Google again, separately, if you choose to load the map on our contact page. That shows them your IP address and the fact that you looked at our map. It tells them nothing you typed into the form.

We do not sell anything to anybody, and we do not pass your details to other garages or suppliers.

05

How long we keep it

Not indefinitely, and not longer than we need it.

  • An enquiry that does not turn into a job: twelve months, then it goes. People often come back a season later with the same gearbox, and we would rather not ask you everything twice.
  • A job we have done: six years from the invoice. That covers the warranty, the accounts, and the period in which a claim about the work could still be brought.
  • Anything you ask us to delete: gone, unless it belongs to a job we are still standing behind.

Enquiries live in our email and in our job records. We do not keep a separate marketing list, because we do not send marketing.

06

What you can ask us to do

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it, where we do not need it for a job we have done or a warranty we are honouring.
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose, or object to us using it at all.
  • Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable form.

Ask by email or on the telephone and we will deal with it within a month. If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can fix it.

Cookies and the map

This site sets no cookies at all unless you agree to them. There is no tracking running while you read it, and nothing is set before you are asked.

If you accept analytics or advertising cookies, Google sets cookies to count visits and to work out whether an advert led to an enquiry. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie choices link at the foot of any page.

The map on our contact page is a separate question, and we treat it as one. It is not a cookie we set: it is a page loaded from Google inside ours, and loading it lets Google see your IP address and set its own cookies on your device. So we do not load it until you press the button on the map that says to. Until you do, you get the address and a directions link, which send Google nothing at all until you follow them.

Two cookies are set without asking. One records the choice you made here, because we are required to remember it and it would be absurd to ask permission to remember a refusal. The other is set only while the site is behind a password before launch, and records that you typed it. Neither does anything else, and both are exempt as strictly necessary.

Where we are
Unit 2a Prince Street Business Park, Prince Street, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 6DB

We collect gearboxes, differentials and mechatronic units anywhere in mainland UK.

How it works

Sending us a unit

You don’t need to bring the car. Most of what we do arrives on a pallet.

  • Drain it. Couriers won’t take a unit full of oil, and it’ll leak.
  • Crate or pallet it. A gearbox needs to be strapped to a pallet or in a stout crate. A cardboard box won’t survive.
  • Label it. Put your name, telephone number and the vehicle inside the packaging as well as on it. Labels come off in transit.
  • Tell us it’s coming. Send the enquiry form first so we know what to expect and can book it in.

We can arrange collection anywhere in mainland UK. Ask when you enquire.

What happens next

  1. 01You send the enquiry.
  2. 02We come back the same working day with an initial view and, where we can, an indicative price.
  3. 03If it needs looking at, we book it in or arrange collection.
  4. 04We strip and assess, then ring you with a firm price before any work goes ahead.
  5. 05Rebuilt, tested, returned, warranted for 12 months.

No work happens without your say-so, and there are no surprises on the invoice.

Same working day

Send us the number and what it’s doing

The gearbox number, the vehicle and the symptoms. That is usually enough for a straight answer, and photographs are welcome.
